McKenzie Wallis
Communications and Digital Media Specialist
McKenzie Wallis is an expert in digital media strategy and content creation who manages the Talking Climate with Katharine Hayhoe newsletter as well as TCC’s digital content.
McKenzie Wallis has spent more than a decade working in communications and eight years focused on climate communication. Her work centers on helping connect research with the people it is intended to serve.
She is the Digital Communications Coordinator for climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe and serves as Communication and Outreach Coordinator for the Texas Tech University Climate Center. Drawing on a background in advertising, public relations, and digital communication, she helps researchers, organizations, and public audiences better understand one another.
McKenzie holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising with a minor in Sociology from Texas Tech University and is completing a master’s degree in Mass Communications. Her graduate research explores how communication systems can help strengthen the connection between researchers and the communities they serve.
When asked what motivates her work, she says
“I believe knowledge should be accessible to everyone, not just experts. The decisions we make every day are shaped by information, and people deserve information they can understand and trust. Whether I’m working with a researcher, nonprofit, business, or public-facing organization, my goal is to help people connect with the audiences they hope to reach and communicate in ways that matter.”
